This video will cover Defining Database Agent Alarm Sensitivity.
The Foglight cartridges for Oracle, SQL server, and DB2, have four sensitivity levels that control which alarms are reported.
Essential enables only the most important alarms. Normal enables the selection of alarms from different categories, including all essential alarms. Tuning enables all alarms. And performance, which enables only the availability and SQL PI related alarms.
You can change the sensitivity level assigned to each agent. If a sensitivity level does not include all of the alarms you want to track, or include too many alarms, you can view a list of multiple severity rules and modify the sensitivity level that is matched to each severity. Changes made to a sensitivity level effect all agents that are assigned that sensitivity level.
To configure the sensitivity for database agent, log into the Foglight web console with a Foglight user, and click on Databases.
Select the row of checkboxes beside one or more of the database instances. Click configure alarms.
Each agent has its own sensitivity level setting. The default is normal. To change the sensitivity level used by an agent in the, alarms you click the sensitivity level tab. Click the fine sensitivity levels to review the assignments. There are settings for each rule, for each sensitivity level setting. Essential, normal, tuning, and performance.
The normal level includes all alarms assigned to the essential level, and the tuning level includes both normal and essential alarms. If you want to record of the existing settings, click View as PDF link.
Select the checkboxes for the rules you wish to edit, and then click set alarm sensitivity level. In the set alarm sensitivity dialog box, set the alarm sensitivity. Click save, then click Save Changes at the bottom of view.
