Hello, and welcome to this video tutorial on how to install Foglight Agent Manager, fglAM, on a Windows 2016 server.
From the fglAM server, we connect to Foglight via a web browser, and sign in as user Foglight. Password equals foglight, lowercase.
We want to download the fglAM installer. Expand the left side navigation panel, and switch to expert view.
First, to confirm the existence of the embedded fglAM under Dashboards, expand Administration, expand Agents, and click Agent Managers. Every Foglight installation generates an embedded fglAM that we will remove in the next video.
To download the fglAM installer, expand Cartridges, click Components For Download, and click the fglAM for Windows 64-bit Installer. Click Save File. Click Downloads. And receive the fglAM installer.
Right-click the installer, and then click Run As Administrator. You're placed in a wizard. Accept the license agreement, and click Next.
For this video, we have a server with a 30 gigabyte C drive, so we're placing the installation onto C colon backslash quest backslash Foglight Agent Manager. In a production environment, we would typically install to a D drive. Then click Next. Click Yes to create the directory.
On the Host Display Name page, accept the defaults, and click Next. On the server URL's page, click Add. For the server hostname, specify the name of your Foglight Management Server, FMS. In this case, FMS-Win2016. Accept the other defaults, and click OK.
Click on the resultant URL, and click Test to verify that communications occurring between the FMS server and the fglAM server using this URL. A successful test results in a green checkmark displayed to the left of the URL. Click Next to continue.
Foglight allows you to have multiple external agent manager servers. They can be outside your firewall. And this page allows you to have them set up to send their collected metrics to another agent manager inside your firewall, acting as a concentrator, sending those combined metrics to the FMS. We are not setting up any fglAM concentrators, so we can just click Next.
On the Windows Service page, accept the defaults, and click Next. At the Summary page, click Finish.
The Complete pop-up appears. Click OK.
We are returned to the Windows Explorer page. We returned to the Foglight user interface. Clicking on Agent Managers, we see the new external agent manager and the agent manager embedded on the FMS.
In the next video, we will show how to remove the embedded fglAM. Compared to an external fglAM, the embedded fglAM is much more limited in the number of hosts its agents can monitor.
That concludes this video. Thanks for watching.
