How to install Toad Edge

Hello. My name is Robert Pound and I'm a product technologist for Quest. This video will cover the basic windows installation of Toad Edge. For this video, it is assumed the installer has already been downloaded and you have administrator privileges on your target system. For detailed description on installation, you can download the installation guide from support.quest.com. On screen I have the installation guide open to the hardware and software requirements. As you can see, a minimum requirement of 4 gig of RAM and 500 megabytes of disk space, as well as a minimum of a dual core processor. And for Windows, you either need Windows 7, 8.1, or 10; or a Windows Server 2012 R2. And these are all 64-bit. And if you have Windows 7, a special note is you're going to have to have gotten that 4.0 installed. Now that we've got the pre-reqs out of the way, let's go ahead and get started. I already have the installer on the desktop and I'm going to simply double-click. And then I will click Next after to the Welcome page. I will accept the EULA or End User License Agreement. At this point I could change the installation directory to whatever I wish, but I'm going to go ahead and leave it default. And I can at this point decide whether I want shortcuts to the desktop, to the Start menu. I also have the ability to associate files with Toad Edge. So for instance, if I wanted to open up JSON files in Toad Edge, all I'd have to do is double-click on them. So I'm going to go ahead and leave all these associated with Toad Edge, and then click Install. And now that it's finished, I have the option to open Toad Edge immediately and also view the release notes. I'm going to go ahead and leave that unchecked and click Finish. And since I have a previous installation of Toad Edge, it's picking up my settings for the connection. So I'll go ahead and enter in my password here real quick. And that's all there is to it. Hopefully this helps you understand how simple it is to get started with Toad Edge.
