Seamless Tenant-to-Tenant Migrations

Date: May 21st
Time: 11:00 am ET
Location: Microsoft Teams Townhall

Tenant-to-tenant migrations are rarely as simple as they look on paper. Whether you’re consolidating after a merger, restructuring your organization, or planning for a divestiture, there are a lot of moving parts and real risk of disruption if things aren’t planned carefully.

In this Skills 101 session, we’ll walk through how teams use On Demand Migration (ODM) to handle tenant-to-tenant migrations in a practical, predictable way. We’ll focus on real-world scenarios, what to think through before you start, how to keep users productive during the migration, and leave time to answer your questions.

We’ll explore:

  • What On Demand Migration (ODM) does and where it fits into tenant-to-tenant migration scenarios
  • Common use cases like mergers, reorganizations, and divestitures
  • How to plan and prepare for a smoother tenant migration
  • How Mailbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams migrations work in practice
  • What post-migration cleanup looks like using the Desktop Update Agent

By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how tenant-to-tenant migrations actually play out and how ODM helps reduce disruption and surprises along the way.

End User Experience During Migration: What to Expect

Date: September 22nd
Time: 11:00am ET
Location: Microsoft Teams Townhall

One of the most common questions during any migration is, “What will the end user experience look like?” From agent prompts and workstation cutovers to self-service emails and login steps, there are multiple points where the end-user experience can impact productivity if not handled carefully.

In this Skills 101 session, we’ll walk through how On Demand Migration impacts end users across different migration scenarios. We’ll focus on what to expect during each phase of migration and what to plan for to reduce confusion during cutover.

We’ll explore:

  • Desktop Update Agent (DUA): What users experience during tenant-to-tenant migrations and how the DUA process guides them through transition steps
  • Workstation migrations (ODM AD agent): How admin-driven and self-service cutovers impact users differently and what they are prompted to do during each
  • Self-service migration experience: What users receive, how they interact with migration emails, and what the login and cutover process looks like
  • Agent deployment and authentication updates: How agents are installed and updated and what that looks like from the end-user side
  • Customization options: Where messaging and communication can be adjusted to improve clarity and reduce disruption

By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how migrations impact end users in practice and how ODM helps you plan for a smoother transition.
