Introduction to the library tool in Toad Data Point

Hello, my name is Robert Pound, and I work for Dell Software. In this video, we will be discussing the Productivity Tool inside Toad Data Point called library. On screen, I have Toad Data Point open. And we can access the library either by clicking on the icon in the ribbon bar or from the Tools menu, selecting library. Once selected, a tab is open inside Toad Data Point and all files available in the library are shown. As you can see, I've populated the library with several different file types including text files, and in this case, PowerPoint. It also delineates the different file types you have inside Toad Data Point such as automation, visualization, Query Builder files, et cetera. To add to the library, we have one of two ways of doing. We can either choose Add to the library at the top. Or if you have a file location open, you can simply drag and drop to the library. This will open up a dialog box. And I'll go ahead and choose a couple of tags. You can either type the tags in-- in this case, Demo1-- or you can choose the drop down menu. And what tags allow you to do is quickly identify the files themselves and what project they pertain to. You can also further refine your files by topic. So in this case, I have either Dev and TEST. I will choose Dev for this one. And I will choose Add to library. And as you can see this file is now added to the library. It's a SQL builder file. It gives the location, which is shared Toad in this case. I can go back to the view that I had before by choosing All in the drop down menu. And this will give me all the files that I currently have in the library. As far as tags, you can simply do a search at the top. And it will refine the library for you and give you only those values. You can also, if you want to look specifically in, for instance, tags or if it had a description, we can choose Description. You can choose the specific values so that you can hone in on exactly which files you're looking for. Inside the field itself, we can either open the file, publish the file, remove the file from the library. In the case of automation, we can also execute the files. We can also open files. As we discussed from the menu itself, or in this case, I will choose a text file and open. And this will open up a tab inside Toad Data Point with a text viewer. Obviously, for, for instance, PowerPoint, it would open up the PowerPoint viewer and then open up that specific file.
