[MUSIC PLAYING] I work with Florida State University, the facility's IT departments. I basically touch and manage all different variants of software. Before we had KACE, there was a lot of running around physically having to touch every machine. Basically I was a chicken with its head cut off. Say for instance a user forgets to save an important document or CAD drawing, there is no autosave. So basically if the system required a reboot or just rebooted on its own, there goes the work.
So that was a huge, huge issue. KACE has made my job as 1,000 times easier because I can set up distributions to where I can tell the machine do not reboot and you know install quietly so the user is not interrupted at all. We had a project that we wrote a report basically stating that if we shut down our machines from 7:00 PM until 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning when the user comes in and fires up the machine, that's saving us roughly about $45 to $50,000 per year on energy.
It has saved me as far as being able to set up distributions. That's man hours, that's labor hours to not have to manually install software. I just boom, set up this distribution and fire it up. Patching is a huge concern. The case absolutely helps manage that because I loved when we took on the SMA and we were able to go in and select Microsoft OS patches and different variants Java and Adobe patches. That has been crucial because not only do I get to go and see how many machines are patched but I also get to see who's missing what and take care of those when that machine comes online et cetera.
So it has made my life on the security end just that more peaceful so that I don't have to worry about it KACE has saved a lot of time in my personal life. I mean more time to spend with my six-year-old and just enjoy life and get out and do activities. Like I love hiking and camping and things like that. So I love it.
