Using Veeam with Quest QoreStor

Hello, again. And welcome to another video on Quest QoreStor. In this quick video, I will briefly detail some of the benefits of using Quest QoreStor with Veeam. Let's begin, shall we? So did you know that adding QoreStor into an environment with Veeam can make it perform even better by deduplicating data at a 20 to 1 ratio and accelerating Veeam backups by over three times? This allows Veeam users to replicate to the cloud and backup data directly to the cloud faster and with more confidence. So here is a load balance configuration using Veeam proxy servers that also act as gateway servers allowing a connection to a share base target. Now, we'll swap the SMB NAS target for a QoreStor target. Now that QoreStor is in place, the next steps will be to install the rapid plugin on each of the proxy servers, then create a share on the QoreStor server and add that share as a target in Veeam. We, then, designate the new target for your backups and away you go. Now, let's look at the first backup again from job 1. So data is moved to QoreStor, most of which is unique the first time around. But there will be some duplicates found within the data sets. Now, let's see what happens when we run job 2. Now, we start to see the impact of the QoreStor solution. Any data that is sent, even from other backup jobs, is now subject to deduplication before the data is sent over the network from the proxy server. Now, consider scaling up the solution in your data center with multiple proxies and gateway servers that will process more data but will only move the data that needs moving without flooding the network. This generates a faster backup and greatly improved throughput. Once more, each and every subsequent job would have its data deduplicated from any of the proxy servers allowing far more space with a single QoreStor instance. This, in turn, saves you money on buying more resources just to deliver a scalable solution. QoreStor truly complements your Veeam environment and helps you complete backups faster, reduce storage costs, and get to the cloud faster and safer than ever.
