[MUSIC PLAYING] Well, my name is Emily Misura. I'm with the Orange County Comptroller as a sys admin. And I've been with them for going on three years. I manage all of the servers in our environment as well as taking care of patching for the servers as well as our workstations.
We're mostly a Windows 10 shop. So if we were interrupted for an hour or a day entirely, it would be pretty devastating since we are public-facing and we're in the government sector. We would lose a lot of credibility with people who use tourist development tax, who use VAB, who use all these sorts of resources that directly come from us. So it could potentially be very devastating.
I think a lot of the problems that we had were compatibility issues. So we had looked into a few different appliances, or different solutions, and ultimately ended up going with the SDA and the SMA just because of the way that they integrate and also, I guess, the flexibility and ease of use.
KACE SDA and SMA meet our business needs by providing scalable solution. We're able to easily update and configure everything to be exactly how we need it in our environment. And there is a good amount of security with those products.
I think with IT, just in general, it is a stressful type of job just because you're always having new issues every day. There are always things that you have to contend with, new technologies, new issues with security. And whoa, this needs to be patched, and it needs to be immediate.
So I think a lot of what helps mitigate our issues is being able to see, in a very clear and concise way, what we're missing and what we need to do to be able to take care of that as quickly as possible. So KACE did reduce the stress that I have at work and did restore a lot of my work-life balance by being able to provide me with more time to focus on issues that would be more in line with what I would do.
So more people are able to see issues and immediately mitigate those rather than me having to do extra leg work. I can see that it's already there. I can see what's wrong. I can see what needs to be done.
I think a business goal that we're always trying to achieve and trying to do the best with is time management. And this definitely has helped us be able to manage our time efficiently. Whether it's with our ticketing, whether it's with assets being inventoried and managed, whether it's about patching and what we have to do with security, it's all about time management.
If we didn't have KACE today, it would be very bad because we have quite a bit of history in there in terms of assets as well. We manage our assets through the SMA, so our assets would be gone. We would significantly lack patches, which would be devastating in terms of a security perspective. Just in general, it would not be good.
So for me, when I'm able to come to something like this conference and I'm able to talk about what I use in my environment and say with pride that I'm a sys admin. And I'm also a female. I think that these kinds of solutions that we have with our SMA and SDA appliances, in a lot of ways, I feel pride because I'm able to talk about my environment in a more informed and clear way.
