Hello. I am Steven Texeira, Solutions Architect at Dell Software, and welcome to the Pre-migration Readiness video series featuring Dell's Recovery Manager for Exchange.
In today's video, we're going to showcase the Dell Recovery Manager for Exchange and how it can help you prepare for your upcoming migration and better manage your future environment after the migration is complete.
So you can see here on the slide, we have pre-migration activities. We can restore lost data due to faulty scripts or requirements, identify and delete sensitive or un-compliant data, move important historical email to PST, integrate with existing backup solutions. During the migration we can complete e-discovery requests, discover lost or corrupt data due to environmental failures or human error, confirm what has been migrated, move public folders and PST data.
And then after the migration is complete, we can compare source and target mailboxes to see what hasn't been migrated, respond quickly to discovery requests for internal and external investigations, recover email from a variety of locations including Office 365.
So here's the Recovery Manager for Exchange Solutions interface. So you can see here we've already added some storages, and we add storages either as a source or target, or both, technically, so we can take a look at and import to and export from. We manage, through automated tasks, some of the functionality here as well. And we have an array of tools for comparing mailboxes, deleting messages, and then we can report on everything that is done in the system as well.
So if we quickly go through here and we look at just a simple restoration of data, so I can look at an offline public folder, for example, and I can look at a specific public folder. And I can restore that to any particular Target Storage that I have here, I can restore it to a registered Target Storage, a separate PST file, or all messages to an EML message or a text file as well.
I can also do a comparison. So if I look at an offline storage backup of the administrator's mailbox, for example, and compare it to administrative mailbox in the live system, I could show the differences between what's in the live system and what's in the backup. And this comes in handy when you're looking at source and target mailboxes in case there's a discrepancy there or the end user has an issue.
So as you can see here, we can add storages from backups or live systems. We can restore messages, mailboxes, or public folders. We have the tools to do a compare. We can do a collective delete so I can go through here and say, I would like to find messages that have the word auditor just because I know there are some of those that exist in a specific mailbox, whether it's-- we'll go with a live exchange system, for example, here.
And I can do a Find Now. And that'll be auditor in the subject line. I found all of those. I can select those particular messages, click OK here. Then I can go next, and basically go across either multiple mailboxes or single mailboxes and get rid of that particular message or virus type and so forth.
So this is just a few examples of some of the things you can do in the Solution here. And then you can go through any-- you can report on everything that's been done, so any completed search, for example, you can see who did what, when, where, what was found. So that was me just recently, looking at those particular values.
