Before installing Spotlight on MySQL, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:
A Pentium-based or equivalent PC with:
512 megabytes of RAM (minimum). 1 gigabyte recommended. Memory consumption will increase for multiple simultaneous connections.
1 gigabyte of free disk space. This should exist on a local disk drive rather than a network drive. Extra disk space will be required if you choose to log historical snapshots from within Spotlight.
MySQL. Spotlight on MySQL supports MySQL versions 5.0.3 or later that employ the InnoDB storage engine. With reduced functionality, it also supports versions of MySQL that use other storage engines (such as MyISAM). Spotlight on MySQL may NOT support versions of the MySQL server prior to 5.0.3.
The following MySQL database servers are supported for database queries. (You must have the Database Administrator [DBA] user ID and password for the database you want to diagnose.)
