Banner Engineering Gets Agile with Quest KACE

The business I work at is Banner Engineering. We're a global industrial leader in sensors and automated manufacturing. So what I do there is I'm a lead IT support engineer, and I take care of the day-to-day business needs for the IT department, whether it's the IT ticketing system or deployment and working with vendors on that basis. The problems were affecting our business greatly because of the fact that we were running around a lot when we didn't really need to be. It was a lot of headaches for me, and it was a headache to everybody because we would have to try to find time with people. And basically it was a nightmare for everybody worldwide that we were trying to take care of. So what KACE did was it immediately solved our issues with deploying software. We initially went with a system management appliance. What we ended up doing was we went from a Windows 2010 deployment, which we were using Sneakernet for-- so we'd go from people's computer to computer-- and then a couple of years later we went to Office 364. We did a deployment worldwide in a month for 900 users, and deployment that we did with 2010 took us months. It was just absolutely crazy. What we were able to get done was so much quicker, so much smoother. We only had to do one deployment, set it up, and then it just worked for everybody. Benefits were that it actually made us a lot more agile as an IT department. We got to do more with the same amount of staff, just add so much to what we can do as a department. And being able to do windows patching, being able to do all of this stuff not just on a United States, like a Minnesota scale. We were able to do it worldwide, and that was just amazing for us. Service Desk is a huge part of what we do. We have over 20 queues. We use it for different parts of our business. We use it for marketing. We use it for our website, and we use it for security now. We're using it just for pretty much anything that anybody wants to be able to do. We can create a ticket system in a matter of minutes or. Days I would say that with KACE they made it easy be able to drag and drop whatever programs you added to it, being able to do whatever you need with your drives, adding, mapping other drives. It just makes it so much easier. KACE saves me so much time. It makes it easy. It makes everything so much nicer for everybody that I work with. If there's an issue, usually I can solve it in a little amount of time. The support from the KACE team is amazing. They help me out greatly. I think it would be great for our company in the future as well. KACE makes it easier for me to be able to have more time in my personal life, so then I can set things and forget it.
