Critical Product Notification for NetVault Backup version 11.1.0.28

 

Description

This week the NetVault team confirmed that the latest release of NetVault Backup version 11.1.0.28 that released on August 15th 2016 contains a data restore defect. This results in failed restores and unrecoverable backups. The issue only occurs when attempting to restore from tape and/or VTL backups that span multiple tapes. All other backup methods are not impacted.

 

If you installed NetVault Backup version 11.1.0.28 and use the tape / VTL protection scheme mentioned above and are unsure this issue impacts you, please contact Dell Customer Support for further assistance. If you have downloaded and have not installed this version, please do not install.

 

 

Resolution / Status

 We have addressed the issue in an upcoming NetVault Backup 11.1 update that will be released by Monday, September 12th 2016 5pm U.S. Pacific time. We will send a notification to all customers when the new build is available and recommend that if you are on NetVault 11.1.0.28, that you update your NetVault server software as soon as possible.

 

We regret this interruption in service and have taken measures to ensure this type of defect will not occur again. We also want to thank you for your business and for relying on NetVault Backup for your data protection needs.
