How to count how much backup drive space you actually need as reporting gives you different information from the OneDrive?

Backup Report of a certain OneDrive is showing Documents Size 1.12TB, Versions Size 18.1Gb and SharePoint Storage Metrics around 20Gb.

What makes the diffecence? I you look from the point of user's view, one has bit less than 20Gb of data in his OneDrive folder in Explorer on his desktop. How to plan the backup drive size if Reports analyze log says you need 1.12TB? Where does this difference come from?

  • Hi Jari,

OneDrive does not show the size of other file information such as permissions, authorship, etc. And, since all file information needs to be backed up, it may contribute to the size difference between the Backup report in Essentials and that of OneDrive.
