Counting Down to Microsoft Ignite

Quest is a Platinum sponsor of Microsoft Ignite 2016, September 26-30 in Atlanta, Georgia.  It’s only the second year of the event, but the conference is sold out – which makes it even more exciting to be going, as it’s like holding a golden ticket!  We have quite a bit planned for the week, not even counting the evening activities.

If you aren’t registered, but want to keep tabs on all the news that’s fit to print, no worries – you can watch select portions of the conference online.

Visit the Quest Booth, #1210

We’re planning to make a big splash at the booth, so if you are there, be sure to stop by!  We’ll be showcasing products from across our systems & information management portfolio, including Microsoft platform management, endpoint systems management, data protection, database management and performance monitoring.  We want to help you save time, money, and headaches, no matter whether your environment is mostly on-premises, virtual, cloudy, or somewhere in-between.

We’ll have a great lineup of staff at the event and we’ll all be happy to talk with you.  I’ll be helping out virtualization & storage product manager Chris Jones and systems consultant Corey Rivers at the Foglight for Virtualization pedestal, talking about how we can help you monitor Hyper-V or heterogeneous virtual environments, Active Directory, Exchange, storage and more.

See a Demo of Foglight

The Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition 8.4 release, which came out in June, offers significant increases to Hyper-V support. To see exactly what’s new in FVE 8.4, watch the overview video presented by Chris Jones (who has a fabulous Australian accent).

The latest release of Foglight for Exchange, 5.7.0, includes the option to license Office 365 monitoring as well.  Foglight for Office 365 shows you the performance and availability metrics provided by Microsoft Exchange Online (SaaS), so you can monitor ADFS on-premises and your mailboxes in the cloud with a single tool. Got questions?  Chris and Corey will be showing demos and will be available to answer all your Foglight technical queries. Plus, we’ll have live daily smart watch giveaways – watch a demo (any demo, not limited to Foglight) and get an entry ticket – you could be a lucky winner!

Check Out Our Sessions

Not only will we be showing lots of product demos, we also have a couple of not-to-be-missed presentations on security and risk mitigation in hybrid environments on the schedule, including one featuring our VP of Engineering, Jieming Zhu:

Secure Office 365 in a hybrid directory environment

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 28 | 2:50pm – 3:10pm

Microsoft Azure AD is the underlying authentication and authorization directory for Office 365 apps. 75% of enterprises with more than 500 employees synchronize their AD on-premises with Azure AD, making it a hybrid directory. If you're on-premises AD environment is not properly secured, Azure AD and O365 will inherently be open to potential data breaches and insider threats. This session provides you with key insights and security best practices to ensure your organization's on-premises AD does not become the Achilles heel your hybrid directory deployment. In this informative session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Assess who has access to what
  • Alert on privileged changes
  • Auto-remediate unauthorized actions
  • Recover from security incidents

Secure your Active Directory to mitigate risk in the cloud

Presenters:  Jieming Zhu, VP, Engineering & Alvaro Vitta, Principal Solutions Consultant

Date/Time: Thursday, September 29 | 2:15pm – 3:30pm

Location/Session Code: Room C111 | BRK3298

The promise of the cloud has IT professionals, like you, excited. You've heard it will be secure and easier to manage than legacy environments - but have you heard that many enterprises will continue to use Active Directory on-premises as the main source of authentication and authorization requests to Office 365? This means your Microsoft Office 365 tenant is only as secure as your on-premises Active Directory. Learn what to expect from Active Directory when embarking on your journey to the cloud:

  • What your 'new' infrastructure will look like
  • What new security challenges and risks come with this 'hybrid' infrastructure
  • How to plan ahead to be sure to reap the intended benefits of Office 365

And… Stop by the Booth Again!

If content isn’t a big enough draw for you, we also have all sorts of fun offerings planned at the booth.  Fancy a cocktail?  Or maybe a delicious fresh baked cookie?  We’ll be featuring something different every day.  To find out what’s happening when, check out Five Reasons to Visit the Quest Booth
