Virtual Appliance Configuration freezes whole Client. (vRanger 7.6.4) Is there a solution?

Hello Quest, hello Community,

using vRanger 7.6.4 a fews month for now we had noch problems until now.

Last week i recognized i can't edit/configure VAs in the options menu.

Every time i try to open the configuration the complete client freezes.

I tried this solution for vRanger 7.1 but it didn't work:

Does somebody has any idea?

Thanks and regards

Daniel K.

  • Hello Daniel,

Do you have the ESXi root credentials for any ESXi in the UI? When you have the vCenter administrator credentials and the ESXi root credentials, you may find quite a long list of issues while doing any operation. If you have them, please remove the ESXI credentials and restart the service so you can try again.

  • Hey Alexis,

thanks for your important hint. It works as you described.

Maybe this problem occured because we have updated a bunch of ESXi Host from 5.5 to 6.5. Who knows?!

I will monitor the backup performance over the next days. Hope there is no impact because of the missing credentials.

In an earlier version there where some problems. We will see.

    Have a nice day.

  • There shouldn't be any impact. When using the vCenter account, you get authenticated on the hosts with this credentials. If you do, please let us know, but it should work fine and should be way more stable without those ESXi root creds.

Have a great day and thank you for the update.
