Transfer Failed: Call to service method timed out

Question

Hello, 
 For the past few days, we cannot back up due to this error that I can't get around. Both core and agent servers are running 6.7. I have tried to modify the time-out settings in the agent server to 20 min but still nothing. I also tried to repair the agent and installed a patch per Quest's support but still running into the same problem. I appreciate any help on this.

 A transfer failure due to timeouts can be caused by several reasons. If the Rapid Recovery timeouts are increased but the issue persists it means that the issue was not related to a process taking too much time. Instead, this may mean that something else is failing during the transfer backup process. We need to identify what it is. 
 We need to know the following: - Are there any VSS or volsnap errors on the system events of the protected machine? * If so, we recommend the following KB: VSS Troubleshooting Guide &ndash; Failed VSS Writers (4034380) - On the Rapid Recovery Core UI, is any data transferred from the Agent to the Core during the backup? * If not, please verify if there are both ways communication between the Core and the agent through the 8009 port. * Also, please verify if there may be any firewall or Antivirus that may be blocking the communication.
