Offer previous free versions with no updates

I have used your tools for a several years now. They've become so integrated for me that I forget they aren't part of SSMS to begin with.

Would it be possible to download the previous free versions of the software? I wouldn't have updated had I known they weren't going to be free anymore.

There's just no way I can afford nor justify the prices you are asking for your products now that the tools aren't free anymore.

  • Hello ajgray79,

Thank you for choosing Quest as your tool.

Unfortunately the freeware tools are no longer available as free software after the updated business model.

I would recommend you to keep the old installers should you have them stored.

    • So you can't offer the old installers?

The software should not have updated without a warning that they would no longer be free.

      • Unfortunately no, the freeware tools will be no longer available.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

          • Agreed, this is a disgrace.
I had an ancient version of ApexSql Complete and lo and behold, somehow it updated to latest version and blocked everything.
This should be opt-in, not forced.
I'm pretty sure there could be some legal consequences related to this.
Also, my old account got deleted (probably during migration to a new company/brand/whatever).
            This was really rude.

          • Do the old installers even work? When trying to install it does not recognize the version of SSMS installed on the computer even though it was freshly installed.

          • Why not offer SQL Complete on its own for a reduced price?

Some of us have no need for anything more than the improved intellisense offered by SQL Complete and can't justify dropping $400 for the Fundamentals Toolkit. Better to get some of our money than none at all...

            • Hello,

Unfortunately there is no Standalone tools anymore, the tools are included in the new bundles.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

              Have a good one.

            • Someone has the old free standalone installer ?
