Exactly what kind of licence does SQL developer tools have?

Good day, 

I have been looking at the licence model of apex sql developer tools. I know they are licenced per user, who can use it across different devices. However, do these licences have a limited duration? And if so, what does it mean? Are updates stopped or is the product disabled entirely once the licence lapses?

    Hi Hanneke, 

    When you purchase an ApexSQL Product, the license entitles you to download the current version at the moment of the purchase, to continue getting support and updates you will need to have an active maintenance plan. If your license expires without a maintenance renewal, you will be able to receive support and updates only until this date and no further.
