Metalogix Essentials for Office 365 2.5 is now available for download

We are excited to announce a new version of Metalogix Essentials for Office 365 is now available for download.

Look what's new:

(See the Release Notes and/or User Guide for complete details)

1. Migrating SPO to SPO in Hyper Mode

  • Ability to migrate SharePoint Online sites (Classic Team Sites and Modern Team Sites - not connected to Office 365 groups) between tenants using Hyper Mode.

  • Connect to source and target tenants using claims option or direct connection.
  • Select source collection from the tenant or load them from the CSV file
  • Check if site collection exists on target - greyed out site collections are missing on the target and will be created automatically by the tool

Note: OAuth is only supported for Hyper Migration and Hyper Backup.

Hyper migration uses parallel threads that the tool will run to read from the source and then upload to the target. The default number is 35. This value is used for both 'Read from source' and 'Write to target' operations while in CSOM mode, while only for Read operations when in Azure Turbo mode.

The available migration configurations are displayed below.

Note: Migrating Nintex forms and other forms is not available in this release.

2. Automatic registration for OAuth Authentication along with Claims

  • Changes in the OAuth authentication to the tenant.
    • Client App must be registered and consented in the source and target tenants
    • Enable the client app in Profile Manager \ Hyper Migration / Backup \ OAuth Option
    • Provide Global Admin and Password and use 'Authenticate App Manually'
    • An integrated web browser will open
    • The device code will be automatically installed
    • The user must log in and consent to the delegated permissions
  • Added support for claims connections using Oauth

  • Ability to migrate to/from GCC High Tenants
  • Added support in hyper migration for GCC High Tenant using OAuth via claims connection
  • Basic authentication is not supported
  • Microsoft-provided storage is not supported in GCC High Tenant
  • Scripts only work for Groups to Groups and SharePoint to SharePoint

4. Centralized proxy settings and support for PAC and whitelisting

  • Ability to set up proxy from a central location. New proxy dialog with support of By-pass While List, PAC scripts with and without authentication.
  • It can be turned on and off from a central location
  • No need to enable or set up on each connection dialog

5. Job status report in Excel format

Known Limitations

The following is a list of known limitations in this release. We are working to resolve these limitations.

  • Modern page migration is part of Groups to Groups migration.
  • Migrating Chinese to Chinese tenant:
    • Have tested for migration from Online to Online (O365 Groups, SPO, OneDrive) via CSOM.
    • Azure Turbo is not supported. Microsoft does not support containers in the Chinese tenant (at this time). Thus, Azure Turbo does not work with hyper mode migration and backups.
    • Enterprise file systems (e.g. Box, Dropbox, Google Drives) are not supported in China
  • GCC High Tenant
    • Only works with OAuth connections
    • Backups are not supported yet
    • Old type script creation is not working because OAuth connection type is not supported in scripts
  • Proxy Setting
    • Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive does not support the use of PAC proxy
    • Connection to AWS with PAC is not supported
  • Provisioning of personal OneDrive's not working when using OAuth connection type. There is no Microsoft API available using OAuth to support this.
  • Migrating one large file of more than 10GB is unsupported. The process is failing to read all of the versions and failing to migrate using Azure due to Microsoft API limitations (at this time).
