  • Migrating policies from an old Change Auditor for Active Directory (CAAD) environment to a new domain environment can be accomplished through a few different methods. Here's a step-by-step guide for each method:

Method 1: Export and Import Policies

      1. Export Policies from Old Environment: a. Access the CAAD console in the old environment. b. Locate the policies you want to migrate. c. Right-click on the policies and select "Export." d. Choose a location to save the exported policy files.

      1. Import Policies into New Environment: a. Install and configure CAAD in the new domain environment. b. Access the CAAD console in the new environment. c. Click on "Import Policies" from the menu bar. d. Select the exported policy files from the old environment. e. Click "Import" to import the policies into the new environment.

    Method 2: Manual Configuration

      1. Review Old Policy Settings: a. Access the CAAD console in the old environment. b. Open each policy you want to migrate and review its settings. c. Document the settings for each policy, including audit event categories, target objects, retention periods, and notification settings.

      1. Create New Policies in New Environment: a. Access the CAAD console in the new domain environment. b. Create new policies for each of the old policies you want to migrate. c. Manually configure the settings for each new policy, matching the settings of the corresponding old policy.

    Method 3: PowerShell Script

      1. Export Policies from Old Environment: a. Use the Export-QADPolicy PowerShell cmdlet to export the policies from the old environment. b. Save the exported policies as JSON or XML files.

      1. Import Policies into New Environment: a. Use the Import-QADPolicy PowerShell cmdlet to import the exported policies into the new environment. b. Alternatively, you can use the PowerShell script provided by Quest to automate the import process.

    Additional Considerations:

      • Group Policy Object (GPO) Migration: If you're using GPOs to manage Change Auditor settings, you'll need to migrate those GPOs to the new domain environment as well.

      • Permissions and Access Control: Ensure that the appropriate users have permissions to manage Change Auditor policies in the new environment.

      • Testing and Validation: After migrating the policies, thoroughly test them to ensure they koows are echat functioning correctly in the new environment.

    • Documentation: Document the migration process and any changes made to the policies during the migration. This will be helpful for future reference and troubleshooting.
