Hey everyone,
I’m Mark Pousee, and I’ve run into a frustrating issue with Quest’s Desktop Authority (DAMS). After a recent update, I’ve noticed that the DA client keeps reinstalling itself every time users log off. It doesn’t matter what we try—it just loops and reinstalls on each logoff, which is causing performance issues and really slowing down user workflows.
Here’s what I’ve already done to try to fix it:
-
Checked the package deployment settings and targeting rules—seem correct.
-
Verified that the install flag is cleared after a successful install—yet it still reinstalls.
-
Made sure no conflicting GPO or startup scripts trigger the installer again.
-
Cleared local temp files and caches before testing logoff, to rule out leftover installer triggers.
Has anyone seen this behavior before after a reboot or logoff? Could this be a condition where the installer is unintentionally marking the system as "not installed" again? I’d love to hear if someone has diagnosed it or has a workaround. Any help or pointers would be massively appreciated!
Thanks a ton in advance!
