Custom report Request to compare two file servers and display differences in files/folders/shares and permissions.

Thank you for your request and response on version of Enterprise Reporter you are using. 

Before we look at creating a custom report I would like to ask if you have tried a couple of our library reports and how these reports compare to your requirements.

1) Have you run the report "File and Folder Permissions with Differences" in the report category "NTFS/Permissions"?  If so, is this how you would like to see differences displayed?

2) Have you looked at the "Shared Folder Permissions" report in the report category "Computer/Permissions"?  This report while it does not show differences, it does allow for the inclusion of a server name and all shared folder permissions are returned.   Do your DFS shares appear in this report? 

Once you provide us with the above information we can further consider your request.  We do have some concerns on the length of time it will take to run this type of report on two servers....that is a lot of files, folders and shares to perform comparisons on and can be a lengthy operation.   We want to ensure that any report we create is optimized for exactly what you need.

Hello Angela, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes i have looked at those reports and they unfortunately do not provide the information we need. The two reports that you mentioned do not compare Two servers and their files and folders with eachother. the first report you mentioned compares differences from the parent path. the second only displays permissions of shares but doesnt do a comparison of two servers. 

Im looking for something like the "File and Folder Permissions with Differences" Report but instead of showing the differences compared to the parent path, show the differences of the second server.

it could be a simple format of listing the two servers and differences between the file and folder permissions by comparing the two or more servers.

Update:  The Enterprise Reporter team is still working on this report request and will send you a draft report by the end of this week.
