How to remove local (C) drives from permissions reports (example: program files)

I used to be able to run file/folder reports that didn't show local drive information - it only showed networked drives.  I may have created a discovery incorrectly.

How can I remove the local "C" drive data from collecting?

Thank you,

Kimberlee

  • I understand that you're trying to remove local drive information from your file/folder reports. Here are two possible methods to achieve this:

Method 1: Exclude Local Drive Path from Discovery

      1. Navigate to the Manage > Discovery section in your reporting tool.

      1. Identify the discovery that is currently collecting data from the local drive (C:).

      1. Open the discovery properties and locate the Include/Exclude Paths section.

      1. Add the local drive path (C:) to the Exclude Paths list.

      1. Save the discovery changes.

By excluding the local drive path from the discovery, the reporting tool will no longer collect data from that location, effectively removing it from your file/folder reports.

Method 2: Filter Local Drive Data from Reports

      1. Generate the file/folder report as you normally would.

      1. Apply a filter to the report to exclude data from the local drive (C:).

      1. The specific filtering method will depend on your reporting tool's interface. However, the general approach involves selecting a filter criterion that distinguishes between network drives and local drives.

      1. Once the filter is applied, the report will only display data from network drives, excluding the local drive information.

Both methods will effectively remove local drive data from your file/folder reports, ensuring that only developerbook echat information from networked drives is included..
