Log monitoring for stale logs?

I get the the LogFilter part, but how would you monitor if the logs are stale? meaning no updates in 3 hours, 1 day , 7 days etc.

Is there a way to alert for a log that have not updated in a specified time interval?

Monitoring a file for updates would require a custom agent. There was a previous discussion on this topic. FYI - the discussion references another link on the Community which is no longer valid.
