Upgrade from Windows 2008 to 2012 R2

Hello.

Is it possible to upgrade the Windows OS of the FGLAM or FMS from 2008 to 2012 R2 without any problems for the FGLAM or FMS? Both 64bit.

Haven't had to try it yet but the time for OS upgrade has come.

Has anyone tried it?

  • yes, i tries it. But my laptop start blinking. I don't know why. please,  anyone give me the suggestion.

  • Some customers have done this and did not report any issues.

    I would recommend

    1. {if using SQL PI} deactivate the agents named SPI, DBO-SPI, and DBSS-SPI in the Agent Status, and then shut down the Infobright server (KB 232387 for Linux; KB 232383 for Windows) because PI is not supported with hot backups or VM snapshots
    2. Shutdown down the Foglight Windows services or Foglight processes
    3. Make a backup of the Virtual machine or backup the "Foglight" and Infobright folders

Then proceed with the OS upgrade.

  • Screen flicking in Windows Operating Systems is usually caused by incompatible apps or display drivers. We have not seen this caused by Foglight because the application is Java based using mostly the browser and sometimes the command shell.

I would suggest trying a standard Windows driver and to begin troubleshooting at the Operating System level.

  • Thanks John.

That's what I recommended also to the customer and currently waiting on his feedback.
