Quest InTrust Deployment Manager - status Not installed

Hi Quest,

Environment: InTrust Server Windows Server 2012r2

InTrust: 11.3.0.1464

I use InTrust to collect event logs from Domain Controllers.

I recently noticed that when checking Deployment Manager that my DCs are listed as 'not Installed'.

Normally, I select Edit Collection, provide an account to install the Agents and then select all DCs and select 'Install Agent'. I DO NOT check the box 'Install Agents automatically'. This works and the agents are installed.

In InTrust Manager, I have a Site defined to contain all of my DCs. I also have the box checked 'Prohibit automatic agent deployment on site computers'.

This has always worked fine for me since InTrust 10.2. For some reason now, my agents are appearing 'not installed' in Deployment Manager after several days of installing them.

Can you explain to me why my all of a sudden the agents are listed as 'not Installed'?

Regards,

david

  • In the Intrust Manager log, I see a lot of event ID: 4100 Reconfiguration started, but no Event ID: 4101 following.

How often is the agent reconfigured?

I thought that once the agent is installed, one doesn't need to do anything more. This is why I have for my site containing all of DCs, the box checked 'Prohibit automatic agent deployment on site computers' and in the Deployment Manager,  I DO NOT check the box 'Install Agents automatically'

Is this correct? These two settings were set this way since we first installed InTrust and I never had an issue.

    I will try your recommendation.

  • Site reconfiguration period is one of site properties, 3 hours by default. If you prohibit agent installation, reconfiguration will start anyway, but will do nothing with the agents. 4100 without paired 4101 is not good, let's check this after you apply the solution. It is your choice to prohibit or not automatic agent installation, by default it is allowed as you know.

  • I always thought that NO automatic agent installation was OK, provided I installed the agent once.
