Hey everyone,
I’m setting up Quest KACE Systems Management Appliance on a dedicated server and want to ensure it runs efficiently for endpoint management, software distribution, and patching. Since KACE handles a high volume of network traffic and device management tasks, I need to optimize the server configuration for better performance and scalability.
From what I understand, KACE runs well on both virtual and physical environments, but I’d like to know the best Intel server specifications for smooth operation. Should I opt for Intel Xeon Scalable processors, or are there specific CPU models better suited for handling large deployments? Additionally, storage optimization is critical, especially when dealing with software deployment and system backups. Would SSD or NVMe drives significantly improve performance over traditional HDDs?
Another key concern is database performance and network bandwidth. Since KACE relies heavily on MySQL, are there any tuning recommendations to enhance query speeds and reduce lag? Also, are there specific BIOS or firmware settings that should be adjusted for better efficiency?
Finally, for enterprises managing thousands of endpoints, what are the best practices for load balancing and high availability when deploying KACE? Should I consider clustering or replication strategies?
If anyone has experience with running Quest KACE on an Intel server, I’d appreciate any insights, recommended settings, or performance tweaks. Looking forward to your advice!
Thanks in advance.
