We would like to refresh our test farm with data from a SQL backup from production. How can we do that using Metalogix SharePoint backup?

We would like to refresh our test farm with data from a SQL backup from production. How can we do that using Metalogix SharePoint backup?

    Hi Lisa,

     

    SharePoint backup doesn't have the functionality to migrate content from one farm into another. SharePoint Backup is only able to backup and restore from and into the same farm.

    So we would need Content Content matrix to migrate production content to our test environment?

    Hi Lisa,

     

    Yes, this is possible with Content Matrix. Please see the steps below:

     

    1) Restore the backup (ex: SharePointContentDB.back) to any SQL Server (dev). This will end up creating a database in that SQL Server environment (ex: SharePointContentDB)

    2) Use Content Matrix to connect to the database (SharePointContentDB):

    3) In CM, add a SharePoint Connection to the Test Farm

    4) Migrate from DB Node to SharePoint connection
