Connecting to Azure SQL Server database

Hi,

We have a plan to migrate onprem SP2010 site to cloud (azure). Initially we think of migrating the content db of the onprem site to the azure sql dbase and then migrate from the azure database to sharepoint online. We just wanted to know if its possible this way on metalogix?

Also we would like to know how we will be able to connect metalogix to azure sql database.

    Hi Bill,


    Thanks for sharing us the guide. However, checking on the instruction, it only details out how to connect to a either a specific 'local' or 'network' database source, so my understanding is this only applies to onpremise connections and not cloud. Please share us more inputs regarding this query. Thanks in advance for the help.

    Those options for 'Local' or 'Network' are to search for a SQL Server, my recommendation could be to manually type in the hostname of the SQL Server and if you have access it will show all the Content DBs in the SQL Server.  This should work the same way in Azure if you have the console installed on a Azure VM
