Hello, We are planning to document migration feasibility from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online. We would like to have a 30 min discussion with your technical team member before we made a decision on SP Online Migration.
These are the high level challenges we would like to bring to your attention.
About our Environment: In our current SP2013 tenant, We have 4 web applications (2 Prod, 2 UAT), 60 site collections, each site collection have 10 (at min) to 200 subsites (at max). 1 site collection uses Publishing sites, SP2010 OOTB Approval workflow and custom masterpage which we would need to completely rebuild as part of premigration steps.
Challenges:
- Broken permissions: Each site collection/sites have broken permissions. Each sub site, document library, list, folder and at document/item level permissions are broken. Can we able to copy/mimic these broken permissions into the destination site automatically during migration?
- Hardcoded links: Each site collection/ sites have hardcoded links/references at 100s of pages, can we able to automatically replace these hard coded links during migration?
- Communication/Migration Plan: What would be the ideal Communication/Migration plan for a site with 10 subsites (2 GB size) vs a site with 200 site collections (120 GB size)
Thanks
Harsha
