Migrating Computer A/C's Over VPN which aren't part of any domain to new domain

Hello Guys,

Hope you guys doing good, So my client wants to migrate the computers A/C over VPN which aren't part of any domain (i.e. work group), to the new domain XYZ. Can i do this using Cache Credential Utility/RUM or do i need to go for any other solution. If any one of you guys have similar experience or encountered a similar project will be welcome to share the experience and steps to do it.

Any answers from your side will be very much appreciated.

Note:- The end users has user profiles which are intact with the current workstation and wants move the same to target domain along with their computer A/C. Please note that we already moved their user a/c to target domain using Dell MM for AD with SID history enabled.

Thanks in advance,

  • No, CCU will not find any matching source account so it will not migrate the machine.

Since you already have the target account ready to go, all you need to do is migrate the computer and remap the user account. A third party utility like Forensit will do the trick, I do this all the time.

    www.forensit.com/domain-migration.html.

It has the capability to migrate the currently logged in user, cache the credentials and migrate the PC in a single reboot over a VPN.
