Sure, anything is possible. You would need split brain DNS as well that complicates things further. 

What is not possible is creating a forest or direct trust between the two forests/domains with the same FQDN and/or netBIOS name. It just cant be done. 

Quest Migration Manager for AD does not support a domain pair with the same name for both the source and target domain. You can (and we have) double hopped the migration to meet this business requirement, but it is not pretty. 

Our Binary Tree Migrator Pro for Active Directory can support  a direct migration from two forests/domains that have the same FQDN and NetBIOS name.
