Error 0x8070005 cannot install AePagent. cannot start service. Access is denied (source=AePwd.PwdInstEx.1)

Hi guys, we had tried migrating AD account from source to target, with copy password option ticked, but these process seems to fail with the following error:

Error 0xe1000051. Cannot compare password hashes, source user : "testuser01", target user:"testuser01"

Error 0x8070005 cannot install AePagent. cannot start service. Access is denied (source=AePwd.PwdInstEx.1)

From source domain, we already disabled the AV, and disable Windows Firewall. But the issue still occur. 

Appreciate any idea to troubleshoot further on this

  • From the event log and the steps , error 0x80070005 seems to be caused by the presence of incorrect file or registry permissions.

    Previously there was a SubInACL command line tool that could be used to reset permissions, but now there is no download link.
    Please press WIN+X, run PowerShell as admin, insert the command and press enter. > 
    DISM/Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth > DISM/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth > Sfc /scannow

    Check with these steps.
