How to migrate all Notes Folders into one Exchange folder?

Hello everybody!

We need to migrate users from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange, but we still have problems of getting the ini-file right.

What we want to achieve is that all Folders from a User in Notes will be migrated into an "LN_Archive" folder in Microsoft Exchange.

Like:

Lotus Notes

- Inbox

- Sent Items

- Deleted Items

Outlook

- Inbox

- Sent Items

- Deleted Items

- LN_Archive

- NotesInbox

- NotesSentItems

- NotesDeletedItems

Here is what we set in the ini-file:

[Notes]

OrphanedDocsFolder=LN_Archive\All Documents

UserFolderPrefix=LN_Archive

UserViewPrefix=LN_Archive

[EN]

~INBOX=LN_Archive\Inbox

~SENT=LN_Archive\Sent Items

~CALENDAR=LN_Archive\Calendar

~CONTACTS=LN_Archive\Contacts

~TASKS=LN_Archive\Tasks

~TRASH=LN_Archive\Deleted Items

~DRAFTS=LN_Archive\Drafts

~OUTBOX=LN_Archive\Outbox

~JOURNAL=LN_Archive\Journal

JUNKMAIL=LN_Archive\Junk E-mail

JUNKMAIL_2013=LN_Archive\Junk Email

[DE]

~INBOX=LN_Archive\Posteingang

~SENT_2007=LN_Archive\Gesendete Objekte

~SENT=LN_Archive\Gesendete Elemente

~DRAFTS=LN_Archive\Entwürfe

~TRASH_2007=LN_Archive\Gelöschte Objekte

~TRASH=LN_Archive\Gelöschte Elemente

~CALENDAR=LN_Archive\Kalender

~CONTACTS=LN_Archive\Kontakte

~JOURNAL=LN_Archive\Journal

~NOTES=LN_Archive\Notizen

~OUTBOX=LN_Archive\Postausgang

~TASKS=LN_Archive\Aufgaben

JUNKMAIL=LN_Archive\Junk-E-Mail

This resulted in the following:

What have we done wrong in the ini-file?

Thx for your help,

Christoph

  • Thats what we tried in the meantime. It looks like your suggestion:

    [Notes]

    UserFolderPrefix=LN_Archive

    UserViewPrefix=LN_Archive

    OrphanedDocsFolder=LN_Archive\All Documents

    [EN]

    LN_Archive\~INBOX=LN_Archive\Inbox

    LN_Archive\~SENT=LN_Archive\Sent Items

    LN_Archive\~CALENDAR=LN_Archive\Calendar

    LN_Archive\~CONTACTS=LN_Archive\Contacts

    LN_Archive\~TASKS=LN_Archive\Tasks

    LN_Archive\~TRASH=LN_Archive\Deleted Items

    LN_Archive\~DRAFTS=LN_Archive\Drafts

    LN_Archive\~OUTBOX=LN_Archive\Outbox

    LN_Archive\~JOURNAL=LN_Archive\Journal

    LN_Archive\JUNKMAIL=LN_Archive\Junk E-mail

    LN_Archive\JUNKMAIL_2013=LN_Archive\Junk Email

    [DE]

    LN_Archive\~INBOX=LN_Archive\Posteingang

    LN_Archive\~SENT_2007=LN_Archive\Gesendete Objekte

    LN_Archive\~SENT=LN_Archive\Gesendete Elemente

    LN_Archive\~DRAFTS=LN_Archive\Entwürfe

    LN_Archive\~TRASH_2007=LN_Archive\Gelöschte Objekte

    LN_Archive\~TRASH=LN_Archive\Gelöschte Elemente

    LN_Archive\~CALENDAR=LN_Archive\Kalender

    LN_Archive\~CONTACTS=LN_Archive\Kontakte

    LN_Archive\~JOURNAL=LN_Archive\Journal

    LN_Archive\~NOTES=LN_Archive\Notizen

    LN_Archive\~OUTBOX=LN_Archive\Postausgang

    LN_Archive\~TASKS=LN_Archive\Aufgaben

    LN_Archive\JUNKMAIL=LN_Archive\Junk-E-Mail

    Now, it looks like this:

    Whats working all the time is, the user created folders like "Evita" or "Mantis". They always are in the LN_Archive folder like it should be. But not the standard folders like Inbox, Sent Items etc.

    Thank you for any help

    Christoph

  • Hello Christoph,

    Thanks for posting to the Migrator for Notes to Exchange (MNE) forum. I understand your looking to create a root folder to contain all data migrated by MNE from Notes. Currently, MNE is not able to re-map "well-known" folders (Inbox, Sent Items, etc.). The following KB article provides additional information:

    support.quest.com/.../how-to-migrate-notes-folders-to-a-sub-folder-in-outlook-39298

    MNE is able to migrate Notes archive data to an archive sub-folder. You could try migrating the primary Notes mail file in MNE as an archive mail file to achieve your goal. You may need to implement the following in the Global Default Settings:

    [ArchiveData]
    UseSpecialArchiveFolder=0

    If you are still not able to achieve your migration goals with this information above, then we would suggest creating a Service Request so that we can investigate this issue further with you in more detail. You can create a new Service Request using the following link:
