ProxyAddress for an already created contact in Exchange does not change

We are running a migration from Domino to M365. We created a pilot program with about 20 users. Customer decided to migrate with third party tool, so when they migrate the data to M365 mailboxes we disable the notes .nsf file and when we run the directory sync we do not get the contact deleted in AD. We also tried to modify the address of the source .nsf and update the contact in exchange to the new one, but this also fails with ERROR SyncRunner [Connector:notes to exch] [22] - Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
