Migrate Teams Chats with "All messages" needs lot of time, preserve of already migrated messages if re-migrate later with (only) "last 15 days " option?

Hello,

we currently perform an Teams Chat pre-migration (appr. 150 Users with the TEAMS CHAT MIGRATION ADDON licenses) to see, if all works and if there are special problems during such a migration.

But, this migration task currently runs more then 11 hours and shows a progress of only 11%.

The migration task has the option to migrate ALL messages - I suppose that is the reason for this long duration?

We try to perform the real migration one week later - could I then use the Chats migration option "Messages within last 15 days" to shorten the Chats migration task, because the older messages are already migrated and preserved?

As the documentation shows "Chats can be migrated multiple times. During remigration, new messages are added to previously migrated chats in the target, and new chats that were not migrated before are migrated.": that means, every new Teams Chats migration task (with changed days option from ALL to only 15 ) will not remove the already migrated messages? Or will the 15 days option remove older messages?

Chat migrations are very slow. We cannot predict how long a migration or archive task will run. It does not run slow ,,, it runs as fast as Microsoft allows reading and writing of messages. We recommend migrating only the last 15 or 30 days of chat messages to live chat. Then consider archiving some or all of the remaining messages to archive (HTML) files for those users who have legal or regulatory requirements. Archiving of messages is faster than writing to live chat.

Our solution will not remove chat messages from source or target.

How do we retrieve all these archive chats or where do I see it?

There is a an html file stored in the users OneDrive. This file is connected to the teams client and is visible to be selected from the chat pane.

The ODM tool creates an "Conversation History" tab within the users teams chats view.This tab is like a channel of the type web-site, which is only a link to a html file, which contains the old chats.

But, if you change the users UPN after an domain move (e.g. from smith@company.onmicrosoft.com to smith@company.com, then this link fails. This "Conversation History" Link depends on the UPN name and after a change of the UPN domain, this link will not longer work (our experience after change the internal UPN domain name to the moved domain name).

Also, recordings are In the recorder's OneDrive not the meeting organizer's oneDrive.
