No overnight Exchange log truncation

We are running AppAssure 5.4.3.106

August 19th was the last time that the overnight Exchange log truncation took place automatically. Since then we have had to run the Exchange truncation job manually when the log volume starts to fill up on the Exchange server. Up until the 19th truncations ran every night unless there was a large job running that blocked the start of the nightly jobs. We have had a case open with support for a while now but are making no progress. Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas for a solution? We are not seeing any errors or failures in the event logs.

Thanks,
Mike

  • Hi Mike:
If I remember correctly, I had this issue working with some of our customers. To summarize it, the Exchange log truncation works when performed manually but not as a part of the nightly jobs. First thing -- and the simplest to do is to install the newest cumulative update for AppAssure 5.4.3. support.software.dell.com/.../184130
The patch number is P-1612. If you use replication, it needs to be installed on the target core first. If you have appliances you need to stop the SRM service before attempting to install the update. At last but not at least, always install updates/patches in compatibility mode ("previous version of windows" would do; this is to avoid a botched install which although does not happen often, it surely ruins the experience :) )
If you still have logs including August 18, it could be helpful as well.

Please let us know how it goes...
