I have read through some of the discussions of how to handle alarms for database backups with Availability Groups but still have not solved my issue. I do backups from the Primary replica in the Availability Group. When my AG fails over, I get alarms for my databases that they have not been backed up in so many days. They have been backed up, only on the other replica. How do I handle this in Spotlight?
I have this exact issue aswell and their support team have investigated but didn't really find a solution. Hopefully they will implement a solution in the future when enough people complain about this. What I do now is just to snooze the alarms and check the backup jobs with a different solution outside of Spotlight.
Gita, this is also a big issue for us since we have many AG clusters. If there is a work around, we'd be interested in it, too. We are also on Version: 12.2.0.9282. Should I open a support ticket? -deb
Yes - I am still having this issue. In fact last night one of my AGs failed over and I started getting email after email at 2:00am that my databases had not been backed up.
Hi Debrah and Paul,
Currently, Spotlight Backup alarms are configured to trigger only on the replica that is set as the preferred replica for backup. I'll check with the product team of possible planned changes and will get back to you.

Hi Deborah, I wanted to provide an update on the Backup alarm of AG instances. I confirmed with the product team that there are plans to fix the alarm behavior in these instances in the upcoming 12.4 version. You can obtain a status of this change from KB Article 210470. The Spotlight 12.4 Release Notes will also list the fix under the Resolved Issues section. At this point, Spotlight 12.4 is scheduled for towards end of the year.
