We are planning improvements to Pre/Post Migration in Stat 6.2 (Stat-2791).  If you have a desire to provide feedback/review on the feature implementation, please email me at richard.schiller@quest.com so that we can arrange a time to talk.

Make "automatic" pre & post steps truly automatic.

Make "automatic" pre & post steps truly automatic. If a pre or post step is run by Stat, it shouldn't require a user to log in & push buttons to execute those commands. You should be able to schedule a migration for a particular time & tell Stat to automatically execute pre & post steps without the need for someone to log into Stat at the time of the migration. If there are pre/post steps that must be run along with a migration, it makes the ability to schedule a migration to run at a particular time pointless because someone still needs to log in at that time to tell Stat to run the pre/post steps.

  • STAT would definitely have an edge, if this idea gets implemented.

    I upvoted this idea!!

  • Good luck...    On the old Dell community , I submitted an idea to eliminated the the Server drop down, because it forces you to pick the servers the Pre and Post steps have to be executed on and you can pick to wrong server or not all the required servers. (Nice...)  That Idea was never considered

Also I inquired with the Stat Production manager through email asking about Post migration redesign and the reply I got was they were not considering it.

We have post migration that needs to get run on 4 servers application server and getting folks to correctly pick the right servers all the time is a challenge.  We have Stat deployed to over 45 servers and that server drop down is overwhelming and error prone.  Why should migrators have to know the servers the EBS instance is deployed on?

For it to be truly automatic, the migration screen would need to include check boxes for pre and post migration to be automatically executed and the re-design would need to execute on all the needed servers automatically.

Also vote for your own idea.
