One #SharePoint migration tool to rule them all! #qSharePoint #SPC11

Over this past Labor Day, a friend of mine and I went to see the new Planet of the Apes movie (it’s quite good actually). Now, I may be dating myself here, but I recall the original Planet of the Apes movie, with Charlton Heston. In fact, I admit to owning the Planet of the Apes action figures as a child. Yes, I am that old. And, of course, this sojourn down memory lane got me thinking of other ape movies (because, really, what else are you going to contemplate during a three day weekend away from SharePoint). So, I stumbled on that old classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey. My favorite scene, and possibly one of the best “cut” shots in all cinema can be found within the first 20 seconds of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMgXOVJLmDU. Kubrick does a fantastic job of taking the viewer from the Stone Age to the space age in the blink of an eye.

Quest recently did the same thing.

On Thursday, September 1, we launched the Migration Suite for SharePoint version 4.0. In the blink of an eye, this product catapulted the market for SharePoint migration tools from the Stone Age to the space age. “What’s so different about this release?”, you ask. There are several reasons this product changes the game.

  1. Simple, focused, fast – like all of our products, we endeavor to enable the administrator to install the product in two minutes and get value in two minutes. And this product meets those criteria. How do I know? I’ve done it. And if I’ve done it, than you know you can do it, too.
  2. One tool to rule them all – Within this single tool, you can migrate from older versions of SharePoint, from Windows file servers, from Public folders, from BPOS &O365 and from Outlook to either SharePoint on-premises or SharePoint Online (O365), or both. No other single tool does all of this. Of course, you can still buy the tools individually.
  3. And we’ve changed our pricing model - We continue to offer “server-based” pricing and have added “per gigabyte” pricing. We heard this as a complaint from some, but not all, customers, so we’re offering you a choice.

So never again let your migration project be ruled by Stone Aged technology. Cast off the shackles of being required to use multiple tools, learn different interfaces and buy from complex pricing schemes. With a blink of your eye, you can take back control of your migration (and your planet)!

Until next time,

Bill
