Office 365 discovery problems

I am setting up discoveries for the first time and I am having multiple issues with my Azure/o365 tenant.  I will start with MS Teams.  The account I am using for o365 is a global admin, sharepoint admin, exchange admin, and Teams service admin.

The Microsoft Teams Discovery application is configured for my onmicrosoft.com tenant.  When I run the discovery some teams report info, but for others I get the "Error while collecting drives for the team. Access is denied to the requested resource".  Here is a portion of the log file from the Node.

I've tried switching from Basic Authentication to Windows Authentication but nothing really changes.  I've also installed the Sharepoint Module on the node using powershell.

Please help!

  • Hello,

Thank you for reporting this.   This is a known issue with the Microsoft Graph and requirements for working with Microsoft Teams.  To collect the files and folders (stored on a drive) for a MS Team, the Enterprise Reporter discovery credentials must be a member of the team itself.   Add your discovery credentials used for the collection to the team as a member or owner and try the collection again.

Basic information, members and channels can be collected without being a member but the collection of applications and drives depends on team membership.

Microsoft has known issues for the Graph documented: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/known-issues

I hope this clarifies this collection error.

    Thank you,

    -Angela

  • First off thank you btw.  I tried it on a MS Team last night and it worked although I hope this gets corrected by Microsoft.  I will continue knocking out my remaning teams. I do have 3 teams that are reporting back the drive info (That I haven't added my account to yet) but I'm getting errors for the applications.  Why would this be one and not the other?  Before I move on to my OneDrive problem I'd love to see this discovery with no errors.

    Thank you,

    Mike
