Getting Ready for VMWorld 2011 - Las Vegas

It goes without saying that VMworld is a very exciting time for Quest, and this year is no exception. Quest is once again a Gold Sponsor and we’ll be at the show in full force, demonstrating a variety of our market-leading IT management software solutions in our booth (#521), and participating in a series of informative track sessions. Please feel free to stop by our booth or come say hi to our experts after one of their presentations. For all of the excitement that comes from putting your products on display in front of such a large audience, the opportunity to interact with and learn from your peers is really what VMworld is all about, and it’s what we most look forward to leading up to the show.

With that in mind, let’s start by talking about some of the sessions in which Quest’s industry experts will be participating.

Breakout Sessions

Quest’s experts will be a part of five presentations on the VMworld docket. One should be of particular interest to followers of this blog. The presentation is entitled “Quest Software and Riverbed: Backup and Disaster Recovery to the Cloud,” and it will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at 3:10 p.m. in the Solutions Exchange Theater.

My colleague Kiran Ranabhor will join Riverbed’s Jerome Noll to discuss how Quest vRanger Pro combines with Riverbed’s innovative Whitewater appliance to enable customers to quickly and easily back up and recover virtual data and files, so they can save time, money and ultimately get greater value from their investment. This solution pairing enables customers to take advantage of inexpensive public cloud storage over a WAN link, and eliminate the need to maintain local storage and additional backup infrastructure in a distributed VMware environment. Both Quest and Riverbed went to great lengths and painstaking detail to put together this joint strategic initiative, so the opportunity to share details of it withour industry colleagues at VMworld is one we’re very excited about. We hope to see you there.

Quest Booth #521

There’s not enough space in this or any blog to talk about all of the exciting technologies that will be on display and the fun promotions that will be taking place at Quest’s booth. So again, I’ll focus on the ones closest to followers of this community.

Quest vRanger 5.2 will be on display for everyone to see. If you recall, we announced the availability of vRanger 5.2 late last month. Thus far, the response from our install base has been overwhelming, as more than 7,000 customers have downloaded the update. We firmly believe that whether you’re talking about speed, scalability, reliability, or anything in between, vRanger 5.2 is the absolute best VMware backup and recovery solution on the market today, bar none, and we invite you to stop by and judge for yourself. We’ll also be putting the other key player in our data protection product portfolio – NetVault – on display at the booth as well, so be sure come by and see why we’re so excited about data protection at Quest.

In addition, the strength and completeness of Quest’s virtualization management solution set will be exhibited throughout the booth, with products such as vFoglight, Foglight for Virtual Desktops, Foglight NMS and vWorkspace all on display.

And it wouldn’t be VMworld if we didn’t have some great giveaways (can you say, cash?) and other special surprises in store for anyone who stops by our booth.
