vFoglight Pro is now Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition - What's new in v6.8?

First of all, you may be asking yourself, why did they rename vFoglight? Two reasons; one is that vFoglight has always been part of the Foglight family of industry leading solutions for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Databases and we wanted to make sure that was known. Secondly, many people don't realize that we have TWO solutions for virtualization management. One solution is targeted for the SMB-Mid Enterprise market, Foglight for Virtualization, Standard Edition (formerly vOps Server Standard) and vFoglight for the mid to high-end enterprise customer. The renaming allowed us to better position the two and adopts the industry recognized Foglight name.

This past Monday, we GA'd our 6.8 version of vFoglight which includes the new name, Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition. For existing customers, this should be treated as a normal upgrade to a new release of vFoglight. We've worked to ensure that when a customer enters the name vFoglight into various web pages, it is treated as a synonym for Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition (FVE). Customer's current with maintenance can install FVE 6.8 utilizing their same license key. That said, we will be asking customers to utilize a new license key in FVE 7.0 later this year (around VMworld).

Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition v6.8 has several enhancements that I believe will be of wide interest. Here is a rundown of the new features.

- Support for monitoring VMware View environments via performance metrics, alarms and alerts

+ New quick start dashboard to view your HyperV and VMware environment
