Rapid Recovery Agent for Linux Ubuntu 22.04?

Good Day All,

We have had our Rapid Recovery backup server since it was originally call AppAssure, however this is the first time I have tried to install the Linux Agent to backup a Linux sever..

I am running into the problem that I cannot locate the Agent or Repository for Ubuntu 22.04.
The Technical Documents clearly state that 22.04 is supported.
However the newest agent I can find is for 19.04, which is now 5 years old.

I did try it to see if it was forward compatible, but it failed complaining "This package does not support your distro version".
I tried the downloader script and the offline installer, however all they do is download 3 deb packages.
Upon attempting to install those packages, it adds a repository that points to the debian 7 repo, even though I installed the debian8 package!!!
AND it is still using the legacy keyring which was deprecated 4 years ago.

This is not what I consider supporting 22.04

I am not afraid to fix the keyring issue, but is there not a newer repo??

I have not had this much trouble trying to install a repo since I gave up on zoneminder years ago.

Is the real issue here that there simply are not enough people using the Linux Agents for them to devote any time to it?

Looking for any advice available.

Thank you for your time.

  • Hi Saul,

Thank you very much for the detailed response, I was able to get it installed and working on one of my servers, will do the others next.

The first option worked. I thought I had previously downloaded that same deb package, but a file compare indicated my two files were different, whatever the cause, it is working now which is what matters at this point.

My only issue remaining is figuring out how to get it to install on my laptop. It is running Pop OS 22.04, which is Ubuntu 22.04 under the hood. I have not dug into it yet, suspect it may be as easy as forcing the dpkg install.
