Not only is Seattle one of the coolest cities around, but it’s also home to my favorite conference: PASS Summit. And now that we’re coming up on the biggest gathering of SQL Server professionals of the year, I’m hearing a lot of buzz about the best things to do at the show. So let’s get right into it.

Check out the best database tools of the year.

Not sure if you’ve seen the results of the 2018 DBTA Readers’ Choice Awards yet, but some of the tools I rely upon heavily took home top honors. Foglight® for Databases earned Best Database Performance Solution, while SharePlex® was named Best Data Replication Solution. (Always nice to have your choices validated!)

Both these solutions, along with a bunch of other killer toolsets, like Foglight® for SQL Server, Spotlight® on SQL Server Enterprise, LiteSpeed® for SQL Server and Spotlight® Cloud, will be showcased in booth 100. Swing by to catch a live demo. You’ll receive a free T-shirt to wear back to the booth on Friday, November 9 for your chance to cool prizes!

Get your grub on at The Quest® Dining Hall.

Enjoy free food with new friends. That’s exactly what you’ll get from the comfort and convenience of the Quest Dining Hall, located inside the conference by the Expo Hall. They’re serving up delicious meals and beverages for both breakfast and lunch every single day of PASS. Did I mention it’s free? I know where I’ll be eating in Seattle!

Meet Brent Ozar and Erik Darling.

Catch up with a few of the biggest names in SQL Server on Wednesday, November 7 at noon in booth 100. Brent and Erik will be there, signing Erik’s hilarious and helpful book, “Great Post, Erik!” I was seriously cracking up over their informative and humorous collection of SQL Server blogs and posts. Arrive early to get your hands on a copy before they run out!

Attend the breakout session on Azure Cosmos DB.

Azure Cosmos DB is growing in popularity. But it’s so new, it’s hard to know what we don’t know. That’s where database expert Patrick O’Keeffe comes in. Check out his special presentation on Wednesday, November 7 at 3:15 p.m. in room 606. I’m excited to hear what he has to say about diving into this new technology.

Party at Capitol Cider.

Capitol Cider at 818 E. Pike Street is the place to be on Thursday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. Join the Quest® event to enjoy free beverages, heavy appetizers and live music. Cheers to a fun night!

Hang with cool peeps.

I’ll admit, I’m not always the most outgoing guy, especially at large conferences where everything can get overwhelming. But the one place I generally feel the most comfortable is at the Quest booth. Their crew always seems a little more mellow and down to earth than some of the other vendors at these shows. So if you’re looking for a chill place to hang out that happens to have the top SQL Server experts and solutions, I definitely recommend booth 100. To learn more about who will be there and what else they have in store, check out their event page.

There you have it!

With so much to do and see in Seattle, it helps to know the hottest spots to hit up. This is shaping up to be the most exciting year yet for PASS Summit, and I can’t wait to see you there!
