I’m excited to tell all of you that Quest has acquired VKernel. VKernel, a leading provider of capacity management products for virtualized data centers and cloud environments, will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of Quest. This just means it’s business as usual for both our teams and our customers at this time.
But let me share a little more about our thinking.
Quest acquired VKernel to strengthen our leadership positions in the virtual infrastructure management and performance monitoring markets. This year IDC recognized us a leading independent virtualization management vendor, and Gartner positioned Quest as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring. The acquisition of VKernel further solidifies our positions by adding strength in the growing segment of capacity management.
Customers like you tell us that capacity management is a very acute pain given the dynamic nature of virtualization and cloud, and it has always been directly correlated to the performance of IT services. Our combined leadership provides you with a tremendous opportunity to take advantage of performance and capacity solutions built for your increasingly dynamic datacenter. By using the rest of the Foglight portfolio, you can manage the applications and databases that depend on virtual and physical infrastructure, and the network that stitches it all together.
Certainly we believe this is a big win for you -- our present and future customers. But, one of the questions you probably have is “what about the products?” “What happens to vFoglight and VKernel’s vOperations Suite?” It’s really quite simple. Business as usual for our R&D and Product teams at this time. Both solutions will continue to be developed, marketed, sold, and supported. These solutions will deliver best of breed performance and capacity management capabilities. Because of this commitment, you will have the power to choose which solution is best for you. We are not discussing product roadmaps at this time, but our teams will disclose plans for the combined roadmap at a future date.
Our goal is to lead the market with the best capacity and performance management solutions in the market. If you are an existing customer, you will benefit from the powerful capabilities you own today plus much more. And if you are still evaluating solutions for performance and capacity management, we believe your choice to go with Quest is the right one. You will be able to solve the immediate pains of managing virtualization, AND have a path forward with us to solve broader infrastructure and application management challenges.
I've already spent time with the whole VKernel team in Boston this week, but I want to again extend a big warm welcome to them -- you have already proven an ability to deliver Simplicity at Work and we're excited to have you with us.
