Hi. I'm Sean with Quest, and I would like to welcome you to the Active Administrator How to Enable Logging video demonstration.
First, we need to open the Active Administrator Server Manager. Here, you can easily enable the foundation services, or AFS logging, and the data services, or ADS logging by simply just clicking on the buttons. You can also disable them from here. With all logging, we recommend enabling it to troubleshoot an issue, and when the logs are collected, disable the logging. To enable the console logging, you go into the Settings link and User Options, and then the Advanced Link, and simply check the box and click OK to save the changes. This logging helps troubleshoot issues within the Active Admin Console.
Now, I'm going to enable the Notification Service logging. Within the console, expand Configuration, select Notification Settings, and then check the Enable Notification Service logging box, and click the Save button at the top.
To enable logging on a directory analyzer agent, you need to go to the server, or domain controller that the agent is installed on, and go to the C drive, Windows, the DA Agent folder, and run the DA Agent Config application. Just hit the enabled button, and then restart the directory analyzer agent to enable logging. This is where you would also disable the logging after the logs were collected.
To enable verbose logging, either hit the F9 key in the console, or go to the settings, and AFL Server Status. Make sure you clear all the events, then hit the little arrow in the bottom right hand corner, and select any filters you wish, and then just hit the enable verbose logging button. Please note it's important to turn this off after the logs have been collected, as it can really impact performance.
And that concludes this video demonstration. Thank you from all us here at Quest for taking the time to watch this video. And there'll be many more to come. To learn more about Active Administrator, visit us online.
