KACE solutions give State of Delaware one interface for key IT tasks

[MUSIC PLAYING] I work for the Department of Technology and Information for the state of Delaware located in Dover. I'm the Enterprise Desktop LAN manager, and my role is to manage endpoint devices for the entire state of Delaware. So we manage about right now 7,500 devices, deploying software, managing endpoint users-- basically asset tracking, hardware, warranty reporting, and so forth. So we had SACM, and we were looking for a better interface for one, and also a better reporting mechanism for our customers who were asking us for hardware reporting. So we looked at a few products, and we liked the KACE SMA. Basically, we had a bunch of mail processing we were doing with our products. And KACE SMA has made it so we can automate all those processes to get better customer service and better reporting to our end users. We chose KACE SMA because it had support for Linux operating systems, for Windows, and for macOS. It gave us the ability to do patching and software deployments with one interface. We could actually do our hardware reporting there also. And we had one pane of glass to see all our devices, which was very handy when we started scaling up to-- We're at basically at 7,500 devices now, so it made it easier to scale. The feature we use most for the KACE SMA are software deployments, hardware reporting, and scripting. From a Desktop Authority perspective, we do our drive mappings, we do our printings for users on there, and we also do our registry keys for users on there. And it gives the service desk an ability to have one place look at whatever the user has actually for the trace files for Desktop Authority. Due to us buying KACE, we've been able to basically automate the hardware reports for our end users, which basically helps with our financial purchasing every year. Gives everyone a sense of clarity so that they know it's accurate. And they can see the last time these devices checked in, so we know the report we're getting is good. One of the big things is the desktop team used to do all the desktop software installs manually, going into PCs and install the software. Since we bought KACE, we've migrated everything to an automated process where it is deployed. We built a package. Next time the next person needs it, we already have a package put out so it's deployed to the machines based on a security group. That's probably cut the tickets load down. I think we used to have 300 tickets a month open. Now we're down to like maybe 120. The biggest benefit to us has been the customer service we get from Quest. Every time we call, we get speedy answers. It's really easy to go in there and start a ticket with them if we need to, and there's lots of great documentation out there too. We use ITNinja, which is a really great community service. We also use Reddit a lot for that. So there's just lots of feedback from the community also, which is really nice. We didn't really have that before with our products we had. I look at KACE as an endpoint solution that will help you not only track your assets, but also manage assets in a greater level that we didn't have before. [MUSIC PLAYING]
