Hi, this short video will provide an overview of Quest Reporter and a demonstration on how to configure custom report logos. Quest Reporter enables IT organizations to collect, compare, report on, and resolve active directory and Windows-based configurations. And this is essential for change auditing, Windows security assessments, or AD pre- and post-migration analysis.
This conceptual diagram illustrates some of the sources of information from which Reporter can collect its data, including active directory domains, NTFS and share permissions, groups and users, and computer information among others. This data can be collected on an ad hoc or scheduled basis and stored in Reporter's analytical database, which can then be mined using any one of the hundreds of reports available out of the box.
The information presented here is documented in the Reporter User Guide. In the version 6.6.1 of the product, this information can be found on pages 111 and 112. The important bits here are that logos must respect these size recommendations, 224 pixels wide by 50 pixels high.
This is a sample of the out-of-the-box report cover page logo. We're going to be customizing that with this custom report logo here for Acme rocket-powered roller skates. In order to configure the logos, launch the Start menu and navigate to Quest Software, Quest Management Suite, and launch the Configure Item.
From this Wizard, choose the Report Logos, and browse out to a new cover page logo. Do the same for the Page Header Logo and hit OK. Then we'll launch Reporter, navigate to Quest Software, Quest Management Suite Reporter and select Quest Reporter.
Here we'll navigate down to the same report we just looked at a moment ago, Domain Summary. Double-click on the report. Choose the domain that we're going to report against. And then we'll send the report to the screen.
It's now going out and collecting up the domain summary information. There's the new custom report cover page logo. And there's the page header logo. To learn more about Quest Reporter, please visit www.quest.com/reporter.
