Based on a recent conversation with a few customers, we think you might find this valuable, too.
When users, roles or responsibilities change – consider performing the maintenance through Active Directory or your Outlook client, if you have the rights, instead of digging through Foglight Management Server (FMS) or multiple FMS. One Foglight customer uses these steps:
- Create a distribution list for each type of alarm that you want to notify on - I'll use warnings and critical alarms in this example.
- Create an Exchange distribution list that contains several operator's email and/or SMS addresses and assign it an SMTP address of foglight_warning@domain.com<mailto:foglight_warning@domain.com>
- Create a second distribution list additional email addresses and/or SMS addresses (you can even include other distribution lists) and is assigned an SMTP address of foglight_critical@domain.com<mailto:foglight_critical@domain.com>
- In FMS, have warnings sent to foglight_warning@domain.com<mailto:foglight_warning@domain.com> and critical alerts sent to foglight_critical@domain.com<mailto:foglight_critical@domain.com>
